ODOR CONTROL SYSTEMS

Odor Control is a primary design consideration for most wastewater collection systems and treatment facilities. As development impinges on wastewater facilities and neighbors become less tolerant of nuisance odors, wastewater professionals have found the need to address odor as a primary concern in the design and operation of collection and treatment facilities.

WWT Drum Scrubber (DS)
Self-priming centrifugal, heavy duty solids-handling, high head pumps with advanced design and maintenance features.

  • Construction: Corrosion-resistant materials.
  • Maintenance: Minimal maintenance is required.
  • Customization: Options include passive configuration, silencers, mist/grease eliminators, and rain hoods.

Drum Scrubbers come in a variety of sizes:

DS-300
DS-500
DS-1000

Max Airflow
100 CFM
300 CFM
500 CFM
1000 CFM

Tub Scrubber (TSS)
The Tub Scrubber (TSS) is designed for higher airflows from 500 to 6,000 CFM. It includes:

  • Media Bed: Three-foot depth within a fiberglass vessel.
  • Access: Fill port and clean-out port.
  • Filtration: MERV 6 efficient prefilter and a high-efficiency final filter.
  • Applications: Headworks, clarifiers, digesters, pumping stations, and screening rooms.

Parallel Bed Scrubber (PBS)
The Purafil Parallel Bed Scrubber is a large, bulk media scrubber that removes high concentrations of target gases with high horizontal airflow. Applications include:

  • Screening rooms
  • Headworks
  • Large pump stations

Vessel Scrubber (VS)
The Vessel Scrubber (VS) is used for large headworks, treatment plants, and digesters, sized for airflows from 8,000 to 20,000 CFM. Features include:

  • Construction: Single-bed fiberglass vessel.
  • Media: Odorcarb II and Odormix media.
  • Maintenance: Media sampling ports and externally mounted blower section.

ODOR CONTROL MEDIA

  • OdorCarb Ultra: Superior removal capacity for hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
  • Puracarb: Neutralizes chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide.
  • Puracarb® AM: Enhanced removal capacity for ammonia and other caustic contaminants.

Corrosion Control for Sensitive Electrical Equipment

Air quality poses a significant threat to the reliability of electronic equipment in wastewater treatment plants. Purafil provides systems to eliminate acid gases, preventing corrosion and equipment failures.

Positive Pressurization Unit (PPU)
The PPU is a self-contained air scrubbing system that delivers pressurized and recirculated air free of corrosive gases. It is ideal for controlled environments housing sensitive computer electronics and electrical equipment. Critical applications at wastewater facilities include:

  • Computer rooms
  • Control rooms
  • Motor control centers
  • Electrical equipment rooms

PK-12 and PK-18 Modules
The PPU contains PK-12 or PK-18 modules with dry chemical media selected for corrosion control applications. They improve indoor air quality by removing odors and preventing corrosion.

  • PK-12:0 cubic feet of chemical media
  • PK-18:5 cubic feet of chemical media

Each PK module is easy to install or replace in the PPU.

EMERGENCY GAS SCRUBBERS (EGS)

Emergency gas scrubbing is critical to protect the environment, ensure safety, and comply with regulations. EGS effectively neutralizes toxic gases like chlorine (Cl2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and ammonia (NH3).

Chlorine Drum Scrubber (CDS)
The Chlorine Drum Scrubber (CDS) removes low-level chlorine gas emissions from water and wastewater treatment plants. It is recommended for smaller air flow applications and is available in three sizes: 100 cfm, 300 cfm, and 500 cfm. The scrubber consists of layered beds of chemical media with optional add-ons such as passive configuration, silencers, mist/grease eliminator, and rain hood.

Emergency Gas Scrubber (EGS)
Engineered to manage catastrophic gas releases from 150 lbs to over 6,000 lbs, EGS ensures the safety of nearby residents by neutralizing toxic gases immediately.

EMERGENCY GAS SCRUBBER MEDIA

Chlorosorb Ultra
Chlorosorb Ultra: Designed for Purafil’s emergency gas scrubbers, Chlorosorb® Ultra Media consists of spherical, porous pellets with a minimum removal capacity of 15% by weight, effectively neutralizing chlorine gas from storage cylinders.
