Vogelsang is the New Giant in Wastewater Grinders

Vogelsang is the new giant in Wastewater Grinders. Vogelsang’s XRipper Twin-Shaft Grinder shreds solids and debris such as rags, wet wipes, and trash to protect pumps and other downstream equipment from clogging. And, they are 100% repairable in the field. The XRipper is a popular choice for mounting wet wells, open channels, or in-pipe grinders in sewage pumping stations. The XRipper grinders can protect submersible pumps, dry pit pumps, suction lift pumps, or positive displacement pumps.

The XRipper grinders can handle a variety of materials, including plastics, wood, cloth, and other debris that may enter the wastewater stream. They robust and reliable, with heavy-duty construction and efficient cutting mechanisms. One of the main advantages of the XRipper twin shaft grinders is their ability to reduce the size of solid waste, which can help to minimize the risk of blockages and backups in the wastewater treatment process. They can also help to protect downstream equipment such as pumps and valves from damage caused by solid debris.

XRipper Monolithic (One-Piece) Ripper Rotors

Vogelsang’s twin-shaft grinder with monolithic ripper rotors reliably grinds rags and debris in collection systems and wastewater treatment plants, protecting downstream equipment from clogging and excessive wear.

The patented XRipper XRG has a Monolithic (One-Piece) Ripper Rotor. It is precision machined from high quality hardened alloy steel and can be easily removed in one piece without having to take out the complete grinder. This is a vast improvement over other twin-shaft grinders whose rotors are a column of stacked individual blades and spacers that can break down or wear unevenly. Maintenance time and costs for these traditional units is much higher than for the XRipper.

These are some of the benefits:

  • Better grinding of flushable wipes and rags to reduce clogging of pumps
  • Reduced downtime – rebuilt on-site (There is no need to send the unit back to the factory)
  • Easier replacement of ripper rotors due to monolithic design
  • Long service life due to wear-resistant ripper rotors
  • More maintenance options – in the field or at the factory
  • Longer warranty

The XRipper’s housing achieves significantly higher throughput rates with less head loss. The results are lower initial costs and reduced operating costs. In addition, the XRipper shreds better and more evenly.

The monolithic rotors on the XRipper reliably shred stubborn rags and debris preventing blockages where conventional cutting discs get blocked or damaged.

XRipper Twin Shaft Grinder Configurations

  • XRP – inline installation in pipe systems
  • XRC – installation in open channels
  • XRC SIK – installed in pump station wet wells with guide rails for easy removal and servicing
  • XRG – high flow grinder

All XRippers have shredders tools, called Ripper rotors which rotate at a low speed. The XRipper delivers extremely high torque for shredding and cleaning itself due to rotating at different speeds. All this demonstrates why Vogelsang is the new giant in wastewater grinders.
